Wineries & Wine Trails
There are three wine trails with over 60 wineries in this region of the Finger Lakes. The Cayuga Wine Trail is five minutes away and Seneca Lake Wine Trail just a twenty minute drive. Enjoy the beauty of the vineyards, many with magnificent views of our sparkling lakes. Wine tasting is available at each location with several wineries boasting award winning wines. Quaint and unique restaurants can be found along the trails as well.

Waterfalls and Parks
The Finger Lakes area is home to over 150 waterfalls so come and explore! There are falls visible from your car and others which require a hike through beautiful forests or area parks before the splendor can be seen. Taughannock State Park begins right across the street from the Halsey House and it's namesake, the Taughannock Falls, is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rockies. There are also numerous state parks for your enjoyment as well as the Finger Lakes National Forest, the only national forest in New York State.
Universities
Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College. As with many small cities with arenas of higher education, Ithaca benefits with cultural diversity, splendid and numerous dining choices and an economy that is strong and steady.

Bigger is better?
The Windmill Farm & Craft Market has over 250 vendors where you can spend an entire day looking, shopping, eating.
Ithaca is a twelve minute drive straight down Route 96. There you will find numerous parks and waterfalls, hundreds of restaurants, great shopping, galleries, performing arts theatres and much more. The Halsey House is minutes from the Cayuga Wine Trail. There is much to see and do.
Explore Ithaca's Discovery Trail with eight fascinating sites to visit including the Museum of the Earth, Cayuga Nature Center and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, a 220-acre sanctuary featuring more than four miles of trails winding through a variety of habitats for birds and other wildlife.
Watkins Glen State Park
The gorge at Watkins Glen State Park is the best known in the Finger Lakes region. The two-mile trough was scoured by glaciers, creating 19 waterfalls and 300-foot shale and sandstone cliffs.
Foot trails follow the rim of the gorge, some of them blazed centuries ago by Native Americans. Many steep trails have stone steps and pass through caverns behind the waterfalls. The park is an excellent place for backpackers to pick up the Finger Lakes Trail, which traverses the state.
The state park has active recreation programs and two prime fishing lakes. Open year-round.
